Glass Planet

by

The planet is transforming rapidly. From the 17th century when coal choked off the industrial cities of the world through to the 20th century when CO2 emissions permanently changed the livability of our home. The 21st century will bring mass extinctions that may very well include human life.

I have borrowed from Pacific Northwest Native American storytelling to build my own story. My series of glass sculpture incorporates animals into composite images that suggest a commonality to the forms. Each piece is a community that relies on the sum of its parts to hold life and relevance.

This series is a recognition of the fragile nature of our environment and the interconnectivity that is eroding rapidly. All the work for this series was made in my home studio using recycled glass.
